The Present Moment

IMG_4985We all experience bleak times where our hearts suffer from our ‘mindstuff’, our stories. Things can look lifeless and sadness can take hold. It’s good to notice it and feel it. At the same time, I remember that all things change and I will have the opportunity to rejoice again.

First Light

Tentative, absorbing, and playing shadows all around me: the morning light lifts my spirit.

Remember…to forget

img_4828

I had surgery last week, and have subsequently been living inside transformation. This has happened to me before: Whenever my body has been cut or broken open I have been overwhelmed with unfelt emotions and forgotten feelings. With days alone and empty of obligations, I am exploring and renewing, and becoming…..Me.

“To remember who you are, you need to forget who they told you to be.”

Dreaming

img_1401

While I love winter, for some reason I am dreaming of kayaking in the marsh. I am hungry for the sounds of birds as they fly overhead. I want to feel the water’s current pull me along. And I want to see the sun’s reflection build a world upon the water. What bliss, what perfection, alone with my thoughts.

Celebrate

The big day is upon us and rightly, the kids are showing up soon! I have decorated, knit gifts, wrapped presents and entertained myself with holiday concerts, plays and lightshows. I am ready! I’m ready for the best day of the year with all the ups and downs that come with it. I’m ready for peace, and that special family time we’ve planned. I’m ready for the joy and the lull after gift opening when everyone sits around playing with their gifts. I’m ready for our annual seafood Christmas Eve supper and the candlelight service at the UU church. I am so ready!!!

Light

img_4475When I am here I cannot resist going down to the beach early to see the dawning, to be inside it as it happens. The ocean transforms herself daily, hourly, and as the sun appears, I am transfixed by the light.

Good Morning Sun

img_4389

I saw the sun reflecting off the windows of the old Coast Guard station this morning, and it reminded me of how a realization slowly arrives, a bit at a time. First we come across a new idea, and as it develops, if it resonates with our soul and personality, gradually we make it our own, embracing it and integrating it into our life view. New things come along every day. We should make room for them all!

Trust

img_4295

Whether trust is eroded or faithfully strong, sometimes you must simply strike off in the right direction and know you’ve done all that you could. Today is such a day. I trust that I am held in love and peace, and all will be well.

Peace

In the face of hostile comments when I post my opinion on Facebook. Once again, yoga saved my life.
