Celebrate

The big day is upon us and rightly, the kids are showing up soon! I have decorated, knit gifts, wrapped presents and entertained myself with holiday concerts, plays and lightshows. I am ready! I’m ready for the best day of the year with all the ups and downs that come with it. I’m ready for peace, and that special family time we’ve planned. I’m ready for the joy and the lull after gift opening when everyone sits around playing with their gifts. I’m ready for our annual seafood Christmas Eve supper and the candlelight service at the UU church. I am so ready!!!

Christmas Light

As the wheel of the year turns, the light will be returning soon. Here in NH we are enticing it early with our own light, one in each window. Welcoming, guiding, a message to the world that peace lies within.

Christmas Past

After they finished making their gifts last weekend, they decorated. Handling antique lead skaters, and old tree ornaments they joined with my mother and those before her to deck my walls and brighten my spirit, welcoming the holiday into my home with glee and their contagious excitement. I miss them, but they will be back soon!

December EnLIGHTenment

I began the free online course this week, December EnLIGHTenment, and have received so many positive responses that my heart is filled with gratitude for being able to do this.

I’ve been really busy with the December Scrapbook, and decorating.

The first box of decorations to make it up from the basement. Those red boots were actually worn by my 35 year old when he was a littlin.

I made a run to the yarn shop for last minute knitting projects, plus some sock yarn for after the holidays!

My son sent me this photo of my mother’s creche, whose set up is now a tradition in his home.

I am happy to note that the aforementioned course is doing what it was intended to do, and that is, reminding me of the joy and magic of the season. I have lots to do, but I’m not frazzled a bit. Love that.

Vision and Joy!

I worked a bit in my Vision book this week

Making art and writing are my two loves at the moment

And I decided for certain to create a new online course for December, and it will be free ! It’s my gift to students and friends and it will ultimately be a gift to myself.  Like with the December scrapbook I wrote about last week, I look forward to enjoying the light of the season even though it’s a very busy time. Twenty four days of magic, inspiration, and connection that will increase our joy and bring a true sense of peace during the holiday season. Leave a comment if you are interested in learning more,  i’m writing up the description today!

Projects!

There’s a lot going on here. Well, Christmas is approaching, but the vision book is growing too.

Beginning with a glass of wine and a snack, I worked a bit on the vision book. Will this be the hub and I in a few years? 🙂

Gathering photos, pictures and such. Some to be used now, some later.

And finished! Now for the hand quilting.

I have a new project: a December scrapbook. Every year I try hard to enjoy the days leading up to Christmas, but there are always so many things going on that I know I miss things. This year I am planning to make a scrapbook with a page for each day. I’ll take a photo and jot something down about the day-total experience! I’m prepping the book now so there’s no excuse when Dec 1 rolls around.

This is going to be good!

Going to bed early so I can see the eclipse at sunrise.
