This. This play of light and shadow. Art and writing are my focus this week and this was my greeting when I opened the door yesterday to let the pups out. She inspires me every day of my life, and this gift was perfect.

When my grandchildren become ten we plan a trip together to the destination of their choice. My oldest granddaughter wanted to see the Eiffel Tower and ride the Chunnel. Traveling overseas just once before, naturally, I was a bit nervous. Giverny was my antidote to that apprehension. Beauty can be found everywhere around us, and some gifted souls arrange that magnificence in such a way that breathing in its aura, standing amongst the plants and structures, brings peace to every cell of one’s body. Monet was a master in the garden as well as in front of the canvas. We spent the day drinking in the timeless beauty of his creation that surrounds his home. Both garden and house, filled with color and delightful vistas, entice the visitor to spend more time within them. I could have spent days there.

Creating beauty soothes us as well, so, today they will devote some time to creating beauty. In the art room, in the garden, in their rooms, wherever the muse takes them….for creativity is the soul of existence.

A Kidney Summer

It’s kidney time again, which means two of the grandkids are here for 8 weeks. It’s a crazy, wild and amazing time for us, so, I like to share a bit. So far, we’ve been creating

Eating ice cream

And hanging out at the beach.

G and I built a teepee

And Sasha’s been keeping the boy’s booster seat warm on the way home from dropping him at circus camp

Apparently she’s discovered the great advantage of being higher too! They love each other

I’ve been working on Scotland plans, and knitting socks!

And drawing facws

I must get a move on with the two-color tank top or it will be too late to wear it!
