The first to hear the call of the heart every year, blessed little beauties.

Before the neighborhood is filled with the sounds of reving snowblower engines, the cardinals are singing, the juncos wear their tuxedos to dine at the feeders and the dogs leap into the snow with more elation that you can imagine. This is a perfect morning.

Still Here

Change, fallow days, wondering. Autumn is slipping closer to winter, that hibernation of the soul, and so, a gentle walk along a country road reminds me of the exquisite connection between all things.

Unexpected

A chilly windy sunrise with a hot cup of tea. Not what I expected this July morning, but my heart is happy with the surprise.

Ordinary

We are all special. And……none of us is special, we are all the same. Honeysuckle blooming is spectacular, and the rest of the time it’s pretty ordinary. Nature has created beauty everywhere, you just have to be watching for it.

Winter/Spring

IMG_4831

We have had trickster weather this month. It’s still winter, and we’ll be buried in snow again quite soon. In the meantime I enjoy this breath of Spring and harbinger of things to come. She delights me!

Dreaming

While I love winter, for some reason I am dreaming of kayaking in the marsh. I am hungry for the sounds of birds as they fly overhead. I want to feel the water’s current pull me along. And I want to see the sun’s reflection build a world upon the water. What bliss, what perfection, alone with my thoughts.

This. This play of light and shadow. Art and writing are my focus this week and this was my greeting when I opened the door yesterday to let the pups out. She inspires me every day of my life, and this gift was perfect.

Light

img_4475When I am here I cannot resist going down to the beach early to see the dawning, to be inside it as it happens. The ocean transforms herself daily, hourly, and as the sun appears, I am transfixed by the light.
