pause

In this pause releasing people and things that no longer nourish my soul.

Moment

img_4426Autumn is my favorite season. As it winds down and prepares to relinquish itself to the snow and ice of winter, it is still beautiful. The soft colors and rumpled sense of its barrenness invite me to gaze longer than I intended, the gentle light creating easier shadows. It is time to let go of what no longer serves. It’s time to rest.

Release

imageI have a favorite instruction in class: “Release what no longer serves you.” It can be a challenge in most yoga classes, focused on fitness as they often are. I teach differently. I am asking students to release expectations, worries and their need to ‘know’.

Release is a daily practice for me right now. I am unsubscribing from email newsletters, purging my bookshelves, simplifying relationships, and practicing radical self-care, because I feel something new coming. I do not know what it is, but I will be ready for it. Ready with space and time for this new seed to settle in and grow.

Truth, again

imageThere were several frustrating incidences yesterday; just bad juju I guess. I wanted to complain about them to anyone who would listen. And then I wanted to tell the story again.

I’m aware of the ‘positive thinking’ movement, but I like to allow all things to move through me because that’s when I can truly let them go. I drop them and they melt back into the world and I step forward into the next bright moment.
