The Light Upon This Earth

IMG_4945

The single most beautiful thing, is light. Here are the new pink Katsura buds illuminated by the moon, the Pink Moon, to be exact. Dawn is my happy place, that sliver of time between the healing darkness and the beauty of the light upon this earth.

First Light

Tentative, absorbing, and playing shadows all around me: the morning light lifts my spirit.

Snow is lovely. Silent and soft and I so wish we had gotten more of it overnight. It’s still snowing so maybe we will!

This. This play of light and shadow. Art and writing are my focus this week and this was my greeting when I opened the door yesterday to let the pups out. She inspires me every day of my life, and this gift was perfect.

Christmas Light

As the wheel of the year turns, the light will be returning soon. Here in NH we are enticing it early with our own light, one in each window. Welcoming, guiding, a message to the world that peace lies within.

The light upon this earth: immense, delighting, perfect.

Good Morning Sun

img_4389

I saw the sun reflecting off the windows of the old Coast Guard station this morning, and it reminded me of how a realization slowly arrives, a bit at a time. First we come across a new idea, and as it develops, if it resonates with our soul and personality, gradually we make it our own, embracing it and integrating it into our life view. New things come along every day. We should make room for them all!

Trust

Whether trust is eroded or faithfully strong, sometimes you must simply strike off in the right direction and know you’ve done all that you could. Today is such a day. I trust that I am held in love and peace, and all will be well.

Light

We took a mid-morning break and walked to our favorite spot, to sit together, saying nothing, just watching. Sometimes we see ducks and geese, and sometimes dragonflies and beetles. Yesterday we saw the light, and that alone was glorious.

Light

My creative time has fallen by the wayside this past week, so after lunch we took our cameras to the backyard. I think it’s possible to make every shot beautiful, or interesting at least, and one of my favorite ways to do so is to shoot at ground level. The light is more complex there, and the shadow more profound. Close to the Earth from which we spring, from which we receive all things, I find her beauty almost unimaginable.
