Unexpected

A chilly windy sunrise with a hot cup of tea. Not what I expected this July morning, but my heart is happy with the surprise.

Early Morning Rain

The delight of walking in the early morning is enhanced by gentle rain.

Morning Delight

You never know what the future will bring, but this moment is perfect.

First Light

Tentative, absorbing, and playing shadows all around me: the morning light lifts my spirit.

Dark

img_4283I wasn’t always a morning person. These days I enjoy the dark quiet hours while the world awakens, when my thoughts are closer to the surface and I listen to their wisdom.

I’m reveling in these cool summer mornings. Seeming unusual after years of blistering hot summers, they refresh every cell with optimism and pleasure. I stand on the patio surrounded by green hope and faithful blossoms. Another day has come for me, and I feel deeply grateful. Peace is mine. It always was.

Recharge

image

It is in the early quiet moments of the day that I recharge myself. Cup of strong English tea by my side, pup on my lap, I write in my journal or read an inspiring book. Sometimes I daydream as I watch the world pass by my window or the sun slowly illuminate my neighbor’s trees. I whisper gratitudes for this life of tumult and grace. Where else would I be but here among family and friends today, celebrating my country and my world?

Happy Fourth!
