Early Morning Rain

The delight of walking in the early morning is enhanced by gentle rain.

Raindance

Every morning I honor the directions and proclaim that ‘this’ is the best day of my life. Even in the rain. In fact, this morning it was a raindance to the deep knowing of perfection in my heart.

Thirst

Blessedly, we now have rain. These gorgeous droplets are reviving my garden this morning. I thirst for the damp earthy smell after a rainy night, the squishy sound  of my footsteps as I walk amongst my plant friends, and the sensation of raindrops on my fingers as I pick flowers, fronds and stems. I am rejoicing!

Disappointment

image

Disappointment has two sides, doesn’t it? I wanted to go with them but knew it would be too much for me. I had been looking forward to the smell of the ocean as we explored the island’s windy scape. I wanted to see the mainland from miles at sea, accompanied by gulls screaming overhead. I just wasn’t ready to be away from home for an entire day.

While they were gone I drew in my sketchbook, read a book about knitting socks while walking through the Scottish Highlands, took a nap with Sammy, and sat on the porch  watching a downpour. Each moment glistens in its own way, and I saw. The quiet helped me see that each moment is worthy of cherishing whether something spectacular is happening, or something simple is unfolding in front of me in its own time. Simple pleasures.

Heatwave

image

We’re up for a mini heatwave today and tomorrow. So the ACs are running and we’ve planned indoor activities for ourselves. Meanwhile, gentle watering of the parched lawn in the early morning is clearly a delight for the birds. They chirp and flit through the arcing sprinkler. Later, I will turn on the irrigation and the worms will have their own party. I long for a rainy day, a deep soaking, puddles, dripping eves, cooled air. Oh yes!

It’s Been a While

We just completed a kitchen renovation, and it’s beautiful, but we’re all still dealing with some anxiety over all the noise and mess.

Almost done in this photo! I do love it!

And just to add to the drama, this happened the other day on the highway

Image

I needed a drink and a hot bath after that!

The good news is I finished the quilt for the boy, and I hear he sleeps happily beneath it. That picture does a grandma good! Also finished the socks

Image

And began another pair, I’m obsessed.

Image

I guess it’s finishing time….I finished the blue sweater also, and gloriously, it fits!

I am loving the art journal class I’m taking

Now that spring is finally here, I am enjoying the magnolia

And the patio

Today it is raining hard, so I’m meditating drawing mandalas

Blessings to all
