Routine Bliss

IMG_5860

I have been away for a week on a CIE tour in Scotland (…sigh…), with my grandson. It was my third trip to my second home, (and hopefully some day, my first home!), and it was beyond wonderful. I met old friends there, and made a few delightful new ones too!

This morning, I am alone, with tea in hand, savoring the memories that give my heart space and light, and, I am cherishing my routine as the stalwart hub of my life. Especially in the morning, my quiet time, with journal and book, is the thing that supports my sense of groundedness and peace. Getting back on the mat later this morning will seal the deal for me. It’s so good, to be home.

Endlessness

Meandering along the boardwalk reveals more blossoms than I had thought grew by the sea. We are all NOT the same, (how delightful!), and,

we ARE all the same. Same hurts, same desires, same hopes and same needs. My daily challenge is to love all things equally, and in that developing compassion, find the love I need for this work in progress.

Afterglow

The day after. You can sense the excitement and celebration still.

Lucky

IMG_5050My Aunt Jan always said there was no such thing as luck, that it was about being in the right place at the right time. Coincidence? I don’t believe in coincidence either. So, what’s it all about Alfie? Awareness! Noticing, and then noticing what you notice. Drink it in and let the beauty, and the light, and the damage, all of it, let it touch you and resonate with every one of your cells. And then let it go so you can make space for the next moment of your life.

Stillness

It’s a gift to be still.

Nevermind the admonitions, just do it…..and enjoy.

Raindance

IMG_5008

Every morning I honor the directions and proclaim that ‘this’ is the best day of my life. Even in the rain. In fact, this morning it was a raindance to the deep knowing of perfection in my heart.

Bookends

A Year to Clear, Minimalist, Simplfy. I am called to release what no longer serves me, and boy oh boy, am I letting go of stuff. Coffee mugs we never use, clothes I never wear, and books I don’t need to keep. And now the bookcases provide me with a creative outlet!

Celebrate

The big day is upon us and rightly, the kids are showing up soon! I have decorated, knit gifts, wrapped presents and entertained myself with holiday concerts, plays and lightshows. I am ready! I’m ready for the best day of the year with all the ups and downs that come with it. I’m ready for peace, and that special family time we’ve planned. I’m ready for the joy and the lull after gift opening when everyone sits around playing with their gifts. I’m ready for our annual seafood Christmas Eve supper and the candlelight service at the UU church. I am so ready!!!

On Writing

img_4391

Writing is how I think. Mulling over the thoughts that arise within me, I ponder how best to express them, how to convey clearly my heart and mind. Today I return to work after a week’s derailment.

Still Here

IMG_4317.JPG

Earlier this week as I was preparing to travel to Lake Placid for a writer’s retreat I wrote that when I returned the leaves would be off the trees here in southern NH. Those beauties are still here, and so is the laundry, my unread library books and smudgy kitchen counters. And those things will wait a few days longer as I create a new writing habit. Daily applications of ass to seat so that I can write the truth.
