Weeds

Weeds among the flowers, tis ever thus, as my mother would say. Weeds are simply plants where we don’t want them, they’re not inherently bad. Gardening is a spiritual practice, especially as it informs my daily life.

I am preparing to drive over to the coast today so I am busy gathering all the things we need and making a list for the market. I had to check the newly planted seedlings in the herb garden to make sure they weren’t wilting in the sunshine, and I come upon this exquisite perfection. It’s a tree peony and just gorgeous. The rest of my chores had to wait while I gave her her due.

Remember to pay attention and be here now.
